WHAT WILL THE COST BE FOR THE RESIDENTS?
It is difficult to put a dollar amount at this time. The cost of the staff, therapies, housing, etc. We believe we need to think outside of the box with what has always been done and do something different for the benefit of people who can not speak for themselves. People who can not express pain, or do not know how to express they are in pain for example.
Other facilities have a ratio 12:1 of client to staff. They do awesome work for their clients. We will serve the clients they can not. Our classification facility will require us to have 2:1 ratio with clients and staff. We will only be able to serve a smaller population in comparison. Like most organizations like these, Amazing D Ranch is being started by a parent desiring something more for their disabled adult offspring.
WILL YOU BE LOOKING INTO DIFFERENT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES?
We will be keeping records of everything we do so we can apply for research grants. We will find corporate partners. We will partner with cowboy churches for ranch rodeos.
We will also work towards becoming self-sufficient with solar power, growing our food, and raising cattle.
WHERE IS AMAZING D RANCH?
We do not have a place of business yet. We are at the very beginning stage of this organization. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit. We are fundraising for 320+ acres of land with a house, pastures, licensing, and staff. We are looking into Anderson County, Texas.
HOW MANY CLIENTS WILL YOU SERVE AT AMAZING D RANCH?
We will start with four male clients. The vision for this ranch is to do something completely different. We want to create a working ranch to provide a place to work and grow. We want to create an environment to listen to nonverbal people by unconventional means. We will need the first year to settle in before we add additional clients.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR NEW CLIENT PROCEDURE?
Our goal will be to get to know our new clients as much as possible. We will be interviewing the current caregivers extensively so we will know the client as well as they do, such as what can set off a meltdown. We will be doing a complete medical and dental examination plus consult with a behavior analysist
